Prends Une Pause Snack Truck, Koh Samui, Thailand

While driving around Koh Samui, Thailand doing some last minute Christmas shopping, my boyfriend had recommended a food truck he had seen the other day selling burgers and sandwiches. Now I know what your thinking, “When you are half way around the world surrounded by all the delicious flavours of Thailand would you be going to a burger truck?” Well, first off, a great burger is a great burger no matter where you are and second, why not? A little taste of home is just nice sometimes. After a couple months of noodles and rice it was time for a great western meal and most of the time it is not that easy to find.

What a FANTASTIC burger it turned out to be. We ordered the crispy chicken burger, the bacon and cheese beef burger and a large fries. I don’t think that any words were shared after that while we ate or meal besides “Mmmmmm” and “Yummm” and “OMG this is soooo GOOD!!!” Needless to say, we came back the next day for lunch.

Prends Une Pause means “Take a Break” and was thought up by French Chef Nicolas who was previously a sous chef in France and Switzerland. The menu is small, concise and well thought out. Offered is a Beef bacon and cheese burger, a Thai style Pork Burger and a crispy chicken burger. (My Favourite) He also has three sandwich options, an oriental chicken sandwich, That pork patties or American Beef served up in a fresh Baguette. Don’t forget the fries, they were some of the best we have had.

All the burgers are fresh and hand made by Nicolas as is the bread. He sends in his recipe to the French bakery up the street and they prepare it for him. I didn’t even know bakeries would let you do this. If this is not enticing enough to come and seek out the Prends Une Pause food truck, then come for the unbelievable price on everything. The beef bacon cheese burger is $160 Baht ($4.80 USD) and the chicken burger which is honestly so ridiculously crispy and delicious is only $100 Baht ($3.00 USD).

Come and enjoy Nicolas’s relaxed cooking, great music and delicious food and drinks.

BON APPETIT!

Welcome!

I am so lucky to have actually found a pomelo in Mexico. And whenever I see one there is only one thing that comes to mind, a Thai beef pomelo salad.  I am absolutely addicted to citrus. This for sure is going to sound strange and my friends with all their hearts agree that it is in fact strange, but I even go so far as to cut up lemons and limes and eat them whole. Did your mouth just water ...
