Pomegranate And Cranberry Red Wine Sangria

Three words …. RED. WINE. SANGRIA! Happy Weekend Everyone

Pomegranate And Cranberry Red Wine Sangria

Dear Wine,

Thank you for being the sweet sweet nectar of the gods!

Sincerely,

All of Us

Pomegranate And Cranberry Red Wine Sangria

First, tomorrow is National Drink Wine Day and It’s a Saturday and it is also Carnival in Bonaire so its about a triple win down here for us. Not like you need an excuse to drink Wine on a Saturday or anything but maybe an excuse to go a little overboard and not have to explain yourself

Speaking of Carnival after visiting Bonaire for the last 7 years this is the first time that we are actually going to be here for Carnival so as you can imagine we are super excited about it. We have been to numerous ones throughout the Caribbean and they all had one thing in common besides the beauty, fun and colourfulness of it all, they are hot. You are standing in the streets during the middle of the day watching the parades go by and usually there is no shade. This time we are smart about it and went and bought a huge umbrella for us to all sit under. I don’t know how the people in the parade do it plus they are dancing the whole time.

Tomorrow and Sunday is the Children’s parade and next weekend its the adult parade. We cant wait such an exciting time

If you have ever been you know excitement of it all. We were in Bequia one year and it ended up pouring rain all day, literally all day long. Not only did the festivities and the parade still go ahead all day but no one seemed to be bothered by it, no one ever lost their spirit. The good thing about the Caribbean as well is that even though it is raining it’s still warm, I would not expect in Canada for people to stick around when it started to rain during a parade I know that me personally would not.

Especially on Wine Day right …

Pomegranate And Cranberry Red Wine Sangria

Especially more when that wine is turned into Sangria

There are a few things about this Sangria that I love so much ….

  1. Frozen Grapes (A Must!)
  2. A Variety of Fruits
  3. Starting With A Good Wine
  4. The Main ingredient is Wine

Pomegranate And Cranberry Red Wine Sangria

Lets start by talking about the frozen grapes. You want to keep sangria cold and if you are in a warm climate like me or if it is the summer you want to keep it cold but not also dilute it at the same time, thus the frozen grapes. Score!

Also, adding multiple fruits gives more depth to the overall flavour of the Sangria

Just because you are adding a little sugar and fruit and club soda to the wine doesn’t mean you can start with a bad bottle of wine. You don’t need to splurge but you do not want to start with something you wouldn’t drink on its own either. I tried that once with a stew and let me tell you … It didn’t work out

Another key is to letting sit. You can make Sangria and serve it almost right away but you are not going to get the same flavour out of it. Let is sit in the fridge for at least 2 hours but even a few hours longer is best. Try it along the way and see when you like it best

Hope you enjoy the weekend and Enjoy National Drink Wine Day

Cheers!

Welcome!

I am so lucky to have actually found a pomelo in Mexico. And whenever I see one there is only one thing that comes to mind, a Thai beef pomelo salad.  I am absolutely addicted to citrus. This for sure is going to sound strange and my friends with all their hearts agree that it is in fact strange, but I even go so far as to cut up lemons and limes and eat them whole. Did your mouth just water ...
